The emphasis on “one” night (μιᾶς . . . νυκτός) seems to extend the connection to incestuous sexual activity developed at M247 and so to further sharpen the contrast between Oidipous and the seer; while Oidipous spends his many nights in unwitting intercourse with one and the same woman whose womb he left to enter the light of day, Teiresias is born of and resides within an eternally dark night in which he sees only the truth shown to him by Apollo.
