Describing his fate as “worthy of amazement,” Oidipous seems to anticipate the impact that his story will make, although what seems amazing to him cannot be nearly as amazing as that which he does not yet know. Even when giving an account of the events of his own life, he can be expected to fall short. On the other hand, if the god is still speaking through him, the promise to amaze suggests that close attention should be paid to every detail of the narrative beginning with this one. [Gd] [Mpei][Mi]
